my name is Wendy Hodgson, I am a north east based photographer. I originally found my love for photography when I was 11 years old and studied it at school. I started at the very basics using film and a manual camera. I loved every aspect of photography and the creative freedom that came with it. I found the technical side very easy to pick up and was soon able to develop films and my own photographs. As I got older I drifted away from photography and it was not until I had my first beautiful son that I began to get more interested in photography. Capturing all those precious memories brought back my passion and love for photography, I went on to have 2 more beautiful boys and decided it was time I took my passion further. Being a stay at home mum I started my journey with a short digital photography course through the open university. This was the first time that I had used digital photography and I was amazed at what I was able to produce. I decided that I wanted to make a career out of my talent and passion so decided it was time I got serious about it. I then enrolled at college and started my 2-year course gaining me a D*D*D* level 3 extended diploma in photography. During my time at college I completed various shoots gaining experience with each one. I completed the course with distinctions in every unit but still I felt I had more to learn. At this point I was still lost, I didn’t know what kind of photographer I wanted to be, I applied at university and was thrilled to be accepted at CCAD Hartlepool (Cleveland college of art and design) where i have received my BA (hons) degree in photography. Completing different assignments and finding my own commissions It was during my studies here that I discovered I wanted to be a commercial photographer. Juggling 3 children, full time education, work experience and commissions was certainly a test of my time management but I feel this has all helped me to enhance my abilities to organize my workload and stick to strict deadlines.

I am primarily a commercial photographer covering anything from studio to location shoots, family portraits to fashion, weddings and events to still life and E-commerce. I love being behind the camera and provide high quality images for any assignment I complete.
