Additional Info:	I am a portrait artist specializing in photographic portraits and painted portraits. Artists Statement: I have always been interested in the relationship between paint and photography, as well as the emotional intimacy of the human face. In my teens, I sold my violin to buy my first 35mm camera and took painting lessons in the garage of a fellow artist. While earning my BFA at Southern Oregon University, I experimented with combining oils and photography, from which emerged my signature style of painted soft color photographs. Shortly after graduating, I moved to the Los Angeles area and worked as a portrait photographer and graphic designer until 1990. During a trip to Europe in 1989, I studied the soft pastel works of impressionists and came back to LA and opened my portrait studio in Pasadena. In 2004, I built a beautiful studio in my garden where I continue to be inspired by my surroundings. Today, I create soft painterly photographs expressive of intimate relationships between fragile human life and soothing nature. My latest pieces are reflective of my relationships with people and remind me to observe the quiet beauty of life in my fast-paced world. Lately I am influenced by the delicate colors of space and the ocean and feel they connect within my art. I continue to embrace the innocence of nature while I explore mixing old and new "digital" mediums.
Fees:	Our full service portrait studio offers a variety of portrait sessions with Janell. We offer family, children, pregnancy/newborn, glamour, boudoir and headsots. We offfer garden and studio portraits in our charming garden studio located at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains. Janell also creates beautiful painted portraits.
