Artist - Jackie Rheaume, d/b/a Images of the Valley

Philosophy - I love discovering, observing and capturing the spirit of the natural world on camera. I experience the same amount of peace and tranquility when I look at my work, as I feel when I’m out in God’s greatest gift. I love the beauty of the Valley and the surrounding mountains and I love capturing the splendor on camera. Images of the Valley was born out of a desire to share my best and brightest photographs of the San Luis Valley with you. My photographs express what I feel about nature, in the deepest sense, and I hope they have as much meaning to you as they do to me. Style - Nature photography; color, black & white, and sepia-toned on professional photo paper and art canvas. Nature photography refers to a wide range of photography taken outdoors and devoted to displaying natural elements such as landscapes, wildlife, and close-ups of natural scenes and textures.

Technique - I work with a Pentax 14.6MP digital SLR camera and my photographs are produced on Kodak Professional Supra Endura VC Digital Paper or panchromatic resin-coated true black and white paper, professionally mounted, framed, and ready to hang. Canvas bonded to matboard and premier art canvas wrapped around a 1.5" wooden stretcher frame, are some of my other unique artwork. Accurate color, realistic saturation, and bright colors are just a few of the many attributes of my work.

Background - I received a two-year degree in Photographic Technology, with distinction, from Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount, Minnesota; a thirty-two semester credit program utilizing creative abilities to set up and take the photograph, process the film, and produce a professional quality print. Courses included on-camera functions, exposure, and darkroom procedures with an objective to modify the ability to see light and form and use composition as a tool to communicate ideas. I also attended workshops in the area of nature photography.

Inducted into the Beta Theta Tau Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Society International Scholastic Order at Dakota County Technical College, GPA 4.00.
